Indoor Lighting

Chandeliers typically feature multiple light sources and make a statement in dining rooms, foyers, and larger spaces. Pendants hang from the ceiling and work well over islands or tables. Flush and semi-flush mounts sit closer to the ceiling and are ideal for rooms with lower ceiling height or limited clearance.

Add the room’s length and width in feet, then convert that total to inches to estimate an ideal fixture diameter. For example, a 12' × 12' room pairs well with a 24" ceiling fixture.

For most rooms, pendants and chandeliers should hang 30"–36" above a table or surface. In open spaces, ensure the bottom of the fixture is at least 7 feet above the floor. Proper height helps maintain comfort, balance, and clear sightlines.
